Panel crash -> no buttons!

Hi,

today, after installing mc-4.5.11 I had a panel crash. Problem is:

- no more buttons on the panel
- the panel starts empty
- removing all ".gnome*" dirs in the home directory and restart gnome
with "startx" causes the same error
- same with removing all "/tmp"-files 

Gnome starts every time with the same apps running before the
crash. Where else are these informations stored ord how do I get a new
clean panel?
