Re: How hard would it be for session apps to start on the right desktop?

On  5 Feb, jwb@cp.net scribbled:
->  Hi,

-> to start on the desktop that they were on when they closed. I assume
-> that this would only work with an SM and ICCCM compliant Wm like E or
-> icewm(?). I am using icewm right now, and when I start my
-> gnome-session, all of my apps popup on the first desktop.

E is the only WM that i know of right now tyhat does full R6 session
management and attemtps to put the windows back on their previous
desktop/geometry/state

-> I assume that since gnome-pager knows which app goes where, there is
-> some way to save this info to the session file.

It's the WM's responsability. E does it. last I looked icewm was onyl
SM client - it didnt complete the R6 SM by also saving state/location
of clients and restoring it.
