Finding libpng.a

I'm trying to configure imlib on Solaris and get the message:

checking for libpng version other than 1.0.2... ********* WARNING
*********** Your libpng version is 1.0.2. Build will not continue until
you revert to 1.0.1 or a newer version.

Now I know where to find the rpm for libpng, but where can I get the
source (in a tarball, not an src.rpm)?  Alternatively, is rpm available
for Solaris (or in source)?
