Gip configure problem

When I run ./configure I´m getting the following:
checking for gnome-config: no
checking for gnomeConf.sh in /usr/local/lib not found
configure: error: Could not find gnomeConf.sh that is generated by
gnome-libs install
I´m running October gnome (installed with rpm), RH 6.0. I´ve checked and
gnome-libs1.0.53-1.i386.rpm is properly installed
