Pixmap themes are slow because the computer has to coninually do real-time
transformations to the pixmaps. For example, as the progress bar goes
up, the "progress-bar" pixmap is stretched to reflect this. Hence, themes
that consist of A LOT of pixmaps get really slow down your machine.
Currently I'm using ThinIce, an "engine" theme. Very fast.
This brings me to an idea. Is there a way to categorize the themes in
gtk.themes.org into pixmap, gtkrc, or engine themes? It would be very
useful. One quick and dirty solution would be to include the type of
theme in the filename itself. Sort of how i386 or ppc is placed in rpms.
