On a 40MHz Sparc 10 (and Slowaris 2.6...) gnotepad 1.0.8 is fast. No
typing lag as far as I can see.

I have tried it with the Pixmap theme (which kills my machine), but
it still doesn't lag.

So it's not the hardware...
