Necessary Office Tools

In order to do my work, I need a desktop publisher and a cad package. 
Otherwise, I can't get away from PowerPoint and OrCad.  (note that the
CAD I need is for electronic schematics).

Thanks in advance for all the recommendations on programs to use.
