panel applets

Hi all,

After several tries,  I finally was able to get gnome to work
on SuSE 6.2.  Now, I've encountered another problem.
When I right-click on the panel and choose the add applet option,
and then choose a particular applet (e.g. the pager), nothing at
all happens.
Does anyone know what may be going on?
