GNOME problem compiling mc 4.5.9

I'm compling gnome (latest) on sun solaris 2.7.
I had to compile mc 4.5.23 because 4.537 and 4.5.9 failed.
Is there any reason ?

The 4.x.9 failed because od a 'too few argument' to a function.
And the 4.X.37 builded but without gmc.

I'm sorry of the lake of precision, but I have done this at home.
