  Look in '/usr/X11R6/lib' (or wherever your X libs are) and see if you
have a 'libz.a' in there, if so rename or delete it to get it out of the
way. X distributions usually come with it and it may be interfering with
the 1.1.3 lib you have installed elsewhere.
