SHM works for me. There are other people who have it working. I've asked
on comp.windows.x, but nobody there had any trouble with it. The only
time I've seen it not working was due to shmctl(IPC_RMID) call at the
time when it was perfectly legal, but Sun's X server didn't like it.
(Detailed description is burried somewhere in the list archive).

But, the point is that things which don't work should be fixed. Could
any of the people who have a system where SHM doesn't work spend some
time to pinpoint the problem? Disabling SHM does nothing good in the
long run and I think it's worth to investigate this problem.
