gnome-linuxconf problems

Gnome-linuxconf (from today's CVS or also from a week ago) doesn't want to
run for me. When I load it, it displays "prefer treemenu" and then the usual
gtk+ 1.3 warning, and nothing else. It idles there and displays no window.
What am I doing wrong?
