I find /usr/share/gnome/apps/ makes more sense to me, personally.
Easier to know what software is going where.  In my mind, all the
gnome stuff should be off /usr/share/gnome, rather than /usr/share.
Easier cleanup.

Again, I don't think it's more a clarity issue than anything else.
Being under a gnome subdirectory labels it as gnome stuff
specifically.  Very clear.
