Although the panel finally can be made to look nice by having these
"..." things removed and by removing the IMHO clumsy button
backgrounds, unfortunately the "..." buttons will reappear again, no
matter if they have been disabled.

this will happen e.g. when new versions of the *.desktop files are
installed or anything else is changed in a menu (I had situations
where the "..."'s only appear in the submenu I changed via gmenu, but
not in the rest of the menu tree)
