ImLib Won't compile

I just downloaded(through CVS) all the "necessecary" files to compile
gome, and when I try to compile imlib, I get the following error
messages

aclocal: configure.in: 15: macro 'AM_PATH_GTK' not found in libraray
utils/Makefile.am:89: variable 'GTK_LIBS' not defined
./configure: syntax error near unexpected token
'AM_CONFIG_HEADER(config.h)'

uh, little help here guys.
