gnome-session crashing

I'm getting a consistent error with gnome-session failing every time I
try to start any application.  This quits out of X of course and the
following message is displayed:
Gdk-Message:
**ERROR**: sighup caught
**ERROR**: sigpipe caught

which is then repeated twice.  I'm not really sure what started this
happening, but it was working once.
