gnomelib-init.c / linux weirdness?

I'm currently running one of the Linux 2.0.36 pre patches (forget
which exactly, but was just a week or so ago), although I have had
this problem in Linux 2.0.35 clean as well. I added a bit of code to
analyze the errno value returned on these failed mkdir()'s I kept
running into in creating the ~/.gnome directory. Turns out errno was
zero? This is kind of odd. I'm going to twiddle my local CVS checkout,
but it would be nice to hear from someone with more authority state
who's at fault here. It doesn't seem kosher for mkdir to return
non-zero and then set errno to zero... Anyone else have this problem?
