As I can see, and after having done it myself, some people are questionning about backgroung , mouse etc properties not working for them.

Since there is no answer, I just want to push it a little bit :

doesn't work for me, at least on one machine and with any of gnome versions I tried so far (ERROR sigpipe signal).

The funny thing is it's working fine on another machine with the same Linux distribution.
