Sizes (RSS - shared):

panel	1268k
gmc	824k
clock_applet	984k
mixer_applet	892k
cpuload_applet	888k

and for comparison:
Newly started Netscape	372k + 4776k (two processes). Much of the 5Mb
shared is shared between these two, too.

So, it's not even close yet - when I run netscape it eats about 10Mb, and all
the gnome stuff <5Mb :)

I must admit that 984k for a clock seems a bit much, but it seems to be the way
of X things...
