   You should add the contents of `/usr/share/aclocal/libtool.m4' to
   `aclocal.m4'.
   aclocal: configure.in: 41: macro `AM_PATH_GTK' not found in library

Surely faq, you should install gtk+ from the CVS.

   Another possibly related problem:
   Even after a "cat /usr/share/aclocal/libtool.m4 >>aclocal.m4", I keep
   getting the "You should add the contents of..." message.

I also got the message.  But I remember that there was no problem.
You can ignore the message.
