the file selector

Right now the file selection dialog is part of Gtk, not Gnome.  This
means it doesn't use the Gnome-standard stock buttons.  It also means
that it might not necessarily follow Gnome GUI guidelines.  For
instance, right now the various buttons resize with the window, which
I think is wrong.

It also doesn't use gettext.  (I sent a patch for this, but it never
got into the Gtk tree.)

Any suggestions for how we could get this stuff fixed?

This stuff should go on the to-do list.
