gnome and RH5.1, does it work?

I had some troubles getting gnome work with RH5.1. The problem was
linuxconf that stopped working after installing the precompiled RPMs at
RHAD.

I uninstalled all the gnome rpms and reinstalled gtk+, imlib and some more
from RH5.1. Now, linuxconf worked.

Next, I installed gnome again, following the exact order on
www.gnome.org/start/. Now linuxconf exits with an error:

>remadmin (GUI frontend) exiting abnormaly

Does anyone know which package is trashing linuxconf and does anyone have
a clue of what I should do to get both these things working side by side?

Otherwise than this slight problem, gnome works great and when I get this
working I'll start trying to contribute with a cool applet ;)
