There are some more serious issues in which GNOME has its
differences.  The use of certain standard dialogs, for example.  We
all get accustomed to the "OK, Apply, Close" buttons in dialogs.  We
all get accustomed to the file and help menus being in a certain
place.  I think the detachable toolbars, and a certain set of icons,
might also be part of the GNOME look&feel.

Pure Gtk apps do not use all that stuff, and can vary more widely.
