You are right. I have set LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable set. I never though
about that point above (-> isnīt this another point for the FAQ?)
But that doesnīt explain why the mode is although readonly?

I would have expected something like
-rwxr-sr-x 1 dirk games 211236 Jul 16 15:48 /opt/gnome/bin/gnobots*
