I don't know about you, but I always get into trouble when I divide
assume into three syllables. The warning messages and the failure to
run may not be the same problem. If I were you, I'd delete
~/.gnome/panel.d/* and try starting panel again.

I have those loads of warning messages, too, and I have no idea yet
what they're from. However, all the programs seem to be working for
me.
