Problems with panel and applets under FreeBSD

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to complain or not, but I
figured I'd give it a whirl. Whenever I try to run an applet (any of
them) I get the error:
/usr/libexec/ld.so: Undefined symbol "___13GtkDispatcher" called from \
batmon_applet:/usr/local/gnome/lib/libpanel_applet.so.0.0 at 0x200ff664

(Where batmon_applet is the name of the applet, of course)
a strings on libpanel_applet.so.0.0 brings up a match for
___13GtkDispatcher, though I'm at a loss for wherever it was defined
in the source, to be honest. I'm curious if anyone's seen this or
knows how to fix it.

Also, on a somewhat related notes, the panel itself doesn't want to
start up. It'll exec, then show a gray box (I assume there it would
normally be) then just dies:
jrh@zeppelin:~> panel
debug: need old_cfg here
started applet, pid: 14007
jrh@zeppelin:~> /usr/libexec/ld.so: Undefined symbol "___13GtkDispatcher" \
called from gen_util_applet:/usr/local/gnome/lib/libpanel_applet.so.0.0 \
at 0x20103664

Also, this would be gnome 0.20 under FreeBSD 3.0-CURRENT. I've gotten
quite a few of the other apps to run, just nothing panel related it
seems.
