	I used a window manager in Windows which let you tear off an
application's menus.  It was really nice and very powerful.  When your
application wasn't focused, the menus disappeared.  When the application
got focus again, they came back.  

	If I recall, the disappearing trick was turned off if the focus
style was not click-to-focus.  (Imagine the headaches!)  Although I think
this could be done a little better if it worked a little like auto-raise.
(Wait xxx milliseconds before drawing the menus to see if the user REALLY
meant it.)
