configure fails

	I have problem with 'configure' script. It exits with an error:
checking for gdk_pixmap_unref in -lgtk...no
configure: error: Can not find a Gtk 0.99.1

	First, I thought it needed the older Gtk 0.99.1 not Gtk 0.99.3
which I had. I installed the Gtk 0.99.1 and it still fails. 
	Any ideas?
