half a year ago, I looked through the COAS program, which is intended
to be Linux configuration manager. There although was a question like:
When I configure my mice on /dev/psaux for XFree86, is it possible,
that all other configuration modules, like the one for gpm, share this
data?
I think they had a solution for this, but I can't remember. So perhaps
it is wise to look through their white papers, how they handled all
the configuration managment. It can be found at www.coas.org or
developer.coas.org.
I have never used linuxconf. Perhaps this one is a candidate, too.
Dirk
