Can you point out the Linux-isms in gnome-admin?
Gnome-Media should be easily ported to other systems, just provide
your per-system code.
Esound last time I checked ran just fine without OSS drivers and ran
on various platforms (aix, hpux, irix, mklinux, oss-based system and
the solaris audio).
