A "fairly hideous grammar pedant" is always good to have in a journal.
Are you indeed willing to spend some time helping us to fix the errors
our English, and non-English speaking writers make? That would be
very welcome.

This is easier to read, even for me. Rock! :-)

You may like to consider to split the sentens starting with "An usual
GNOME contributor will use mailing lists, IRC and ..." into two,
thought. Just for perfection.
