Shortwave is built with a single-point of failure (radio-browser.info http://www.radio-browser.info/gui/#!/), while GNOME Radio is built with a local database and features a OpenStreetMap interactive map and text query search for radio stations by location.

Version 2.0.0 was reviewed in Linux Magazine 222 and linuxreviews.org.
