Re: Damned Lies vs git statistic

You could adapt https://git.gnome.org/browse/gtk+/tree/make-pot (all

would advise against it. Some modules use the ITS feature of gettext
to extract, among many others, polkit’s .policy files, and the rules
for that are not yet in any released version of polkit. Using
damned-lies avoids this problem and ensures that you have every string
in your translation.

If you’re interested in how damned-lies works in this regard, take a
look at <https://git.gnome.org/browse/damned-lies/log/?qt=grep&q=gettext>,
specifically commits from 2015 onwards.

Thanks for your answer!

But I have to agree with Ask. Now I have to spend more time to translate GNOME. I used to have few commands to handle my workflow, approximately I update 100 modules during string freeze period. Some of them is really small (update few strings), so, git pull&&intltool-update&&gedit&&git commit&&git push was really fast. I used DL only to monitor unfinished modules. Since this release I have to download everything from browser, which isn't cool. It means I have to spend more time on downloading and less on translating.

I won't stop translating, but this is an issue for me since I do it in my spare time. We have to convert DL into Gnome Pootle-like service or provide common translators workflow for every gnome module.
