Intltool -> gettext conversion review request

Dear Translators,

I’ve posted some patches at
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=769623 to convert
sound-juicer from intltool to gettext. I was wondering if someone with a
better understanding of the translation infrastructure would be able to
look at them and check they’re sensible. I'm particularly interested for
feedback on the various options in po/Makevars and also the mass
conversion of ASCII ellipsis and quotes to Unicode versions.
