Re: PO file checks on git.gnome.org

Matej,

As a workaround you can eliminate the line break that is normally
applied by the editor of PO. You can do this with some methods. Saying
two:

1) Moving manually (e.g. using gedit) the lines broken to a single-line format.

from:
msgstr ""
"hello world"

to:
msgstr "hello world"

2) or running "msgcat --no-wrap <infile>.po -o <outfile.po>", which
will remove line breaks of the whole file. As a downside, it makes
D-L's diff weird, as you'd be comparing a file with line breaks
against a file withOUT them.

I'd go with first suggestion.

Is there anything I can do to prevent this breaks for Slovenian?

Uhm, just realizing that the check is also triggered when the msgstr
is
empty (e.g. translation team has not translated 100% yet). :-/

Can you give me an example po file please? Then I'll fix it up.

I was wrong: It's not about empty translations but translation strings
that are so long that the po file breaks lines and starts with
   msgstr ""
instead, which also triggers the commit hook and is worse.

For example: gnome-control-center/po/sl.po

$:andre\> git commit -m "Fix broken translation of keywords to Slovenian"
po/sl.po
