For po files, it's a lot easier for everyone to use plain .po text
files. gz attachments are thought for grouped files (e.g. a bunch of
translated figures for doc translation).
And diff files are always difficult to commit because PO file is always changing (updates to track source code changes, file names or line numbers).
So +1 for plain .po file.
