Its because users might like to use lower case versions of the names.
The default for desktop is ~/Desktop, but the sysadmin might want
~/desktop instead. When we translate the filename we call gettext on
each path element, meaning we'll use $HOME/_("desktop") in the later
case.
So, the lowercase strings should be translated with lowercase.
