Hi Kenneth,

The Heartsome XLIFF Translation Editor is a commercial tool, not open
source, so I don't know how it would fit in gnome foundation plans.

My company used to target Windows users, as most professional
translation tools are only available on that platform. However, as I did
most of the development on Linux, the editor is a true cross-platform
tool (it also runs on Mac OS X and Solaris).
 
I'm copying this reply to the gnome list because I think this tool is
really interesting and only two people contacted me so far.

What I'm trying to do is release a version with some limitations, but
still fully usable, to support the open source community. 

I tried using KBabel and found it is a really nice tool, but it has the
same problem of all the tools that I know that can handle PO files:

*  It works with PO files only and can't be used to translate HOWTOs
that are in DocBook format or help pages in HTML. This means I can't use
a common translation memory (TM) when translating different file
formats. 

 * I can't export to TMX (Translation Memory eXchange format) to reuse
what I've done with other documents. 

 * Another limitation that is somewhat frustrating is the lack for
terminology support (can't check or build  glossaries while
translating).

If anyone can help me find the best way to materialise my offer, please
let me know.
