[Fwd: french localization of documentation stylesheets]

Hi guys:
here is a message regarding French localization of Yelp stylesheets.
I'll apply the patch to files at gnome-docu/gdp/xsl/ - but since the
actual stylesheets used by GNOME are located in yelp directory, the
patch also needs to be applied there. Shaun: can you take care of this?

More serious problem, though, is that
/usr/share/scrollkeeper/Templates/fr
is indeed empty (at least in RH 9). I can't believe that for a language
as major as French no one bothered to translate the category list. Maybe
someone from French translation team would care to fill this gap? Or
maybe it has been translated and it is just an installation bug - e.g.,
someone messed up makefiles?

Sasha

Best,
Sasha

Hello Alexander,

Last year (01 Feb 2002), you sended the following message to GNOME Doc List <gnome-doc-list gnome org>.

----------------
Hi guys:
Gnome Doc Project needs help with localization of stylesheets that will
be used by GNOME 2 for on-the-fly DocBook->HTML conversion. Obviously,
all text which the stylesheets put, say, on the titlepage (such as
"Authors") needs to be translated. So please help us by adding
localization for your language to the file

CVS:gnome-docu/gdp/xsl/l10n.xml

File syntax is obvious. Just note that non-ascii characters must be
encoded as unicode character entities, e.g. Ͽ
You can use "recode" to convert the file to this format (details --
inside the file).

Yes, I know it is a pain. But this is the way XSL stylesheets are
localized; if you have comments or suggestions, send them to Norman
Walsh, not us - our stylesheets are just customization layer on top of
his.

Thanks!

PS. When replying to this message, please cc gnome-doc-list@gnome.org
----------------

I just found it two days ago because I am writing a small Gnome application and I am
unable to have the help working in french.
It seems the reason is because there is no french translation in

CVS:gnome-docu/gdp/xsl/l10n.xml

Furthermore, it seems that the directory "scrollkeeper/Templates/fr" is empty
and contain no "scrollkeeper_cl.xml" file translated in french.

I suppose that this explains the failure to have help in french.

Find here the french part of CVS:gnome-docu/gdp/xsl/l10n.xml

<!-- *************** French ***************** -->

 <l:gentext key="Authors" text="Auteurs"/>
 <l:gentext key="Affiliation" text="Organisation"/>

 <l:template name="articleinfo" text="A propos de ce document"/>
 </l:context>
</l:l10n>

I hope this is usefull for you.

PS. I am absolutely not a specialist in programmation.

Best regards.
