Won't work.
Chances are that there will be in the msgid fields soem non latin1 chars
(Hungarian names etc).
You need to use //TRANSLIT when converting from utf-8 to non utf-8.
> vim es.po
> recode latin1..UTF-8 es.po
Then, you need to merge again with the pot file, check the newly created
fuzzy entries and fix them.
That will be needed only for a few po files probably, but you must be aware
of it as it *will* happen.
