XIM support is standard in Gtk+; lack of support in Nautilus would mean
it doesn't use standard Gtk+ nor standard Gnome widgets?

That is anyway a very serious bug, making Nautilus completly useles
for at least CJK people.

I'm no familiar with the Nautilus code either.
