Havoc mentioned the Gtk+ team had specific criticisms of the design
and was hoping to do something at the Gtk+ level. Maybe if they have a
preliminary design they could post it, and perhaps the right people
could meet at GUADEC to hash something out.

However, I doubt this is going to happen for GNOME 2.0. Perhaps 2.2
and we can then deprecate the old APIs.

I do agree with you though that the many different menu/toolbar APIs
we have now constitute a mess of the highest order; I think some
proposals and a GUADEC summit should be given high priority.
