It's all about relevance.

We have two usage patterns of this list. People who want to know about new
GNOME-related software releases, and people who want general news about
GNOME (the wider picture).

Currently, the second group aren't helped very much, because they get a big
messy mailbox of difficult-to-read software announcements, and a few major
news things and GNOME Weekly News here and there.

Note that the latest suggestion from Chema is to create gnome-news-list for
this group, and copy the subscriber list over. This is great.

(Don't get too attached to the status quo, you may find your self
blindsided!)
