This does not seem to be a bad problem for KDE right now.

This again does not seem to be a problem for KDE users.
It is a problem. The fact that Qt has a GPL-like license has been a
strike against it in many decisions when compared to an LGPL library
like GTK. This has helped GNOME. I can't be more specific, sorry.
Havoc
This was one of the reasons why Mozilla originally used Gtk instead of Qt.
