OS/2's WPS has a style of menu called Conditional Cascading Menus (CCM) that
might be suitable for this feature. It has the visual appearance of a
traditional cascading menu (Menu text with arrow on right hand side) but
with a box around the arrow to make it appear as if it were a button. If the
user selects the text portion of the menu item, the default action is
performed. If the user selects the arrow/button, a submenu appears. See the

I could see this menu style being useful in a lot of situations; mainly to
reduce context menu clutter.
