I think the single-click should be the default. I agree that it is the
better solution, so I think we should help beginners taking advantage
of that by making it the defaul setting. The advanced user who is used
to double-click behaviour will rather search for the settings panel than
the beginner.
BTW, I think the single-click is better because it is more consistent.
I can't think of any other place where you have to double-click to perform
an action. Browser-links and all GTK-widgets perform actions on single-
clicking, no widget I know requires a double-click.
