Have you tried Finder Applet?  It works similar to the application lister
on MacOS.  While not application-specific (instead, window-specific),
it's pretty usable, if that's what you're looking for.

(I was running it for a while, but found I never bothered using it..
I had gotten too used to the Windows-like TaskList applet)


It provides a pulldown list of windows that are open, with their icons.
Whichever window is currently in focus appears in the button on the panel
(like the icon that appears on the upper right of a Mac's menu bar).


Speaking of window icons, which Window Managers (if ANY!?) support showing
a window's icon on its titlebar (a la Windows)?
