It seems like none of you have played with 4DWM on Irix. Irix Gets It
Right, in that apps that are started produce a sound event, and have the
cursor animate for ~1 second. That's enough of a hint. Even if you don't
have the audio turned on for the noise the Indigo makes, the cursor still
provides a nice little cue that the app has tried to start. Now what you
need to do is encourage programmers to produce VISUAL error messages, rather
than returning values to the shell (which are ignored in a GUI setting).
Or you could just have gnome pop up a generic error message based on the
sysexits.h return codes (and LART any programmer stupid enough to deviate
from accepted UNIX standards on return codes).
