I agree, something is massively wrong with the GUI but a change should be
done in phases. Maybe not so much as a massive overhaul of the GUI, but
maybe like an additional program that's part of the environment to allow
novices to easily use the OS. One idea I heard in years past on OS GUI
design projects was a GUI where the user simply clicks or literally says
what they want to do and the OS will open the program it feels best suits
the user's needs. Maybe a wizard-like interface can be implemented.

The best way to get rid of competition is to convince
the competitors to do things different..
I sort of agree.. Something is *wrong* with the gui today..
I have a wonderful never ending first-time-user.. My mom..
Whenever I by some fancy gadget and show it to her she smiles
and tells me how nice it is.. Five minutes later she ask why
the darn thing can't do what she wants!
Computer programs are built by programmers for programmers.
Something *is* wrong..
Why is the phone so simple? Or a radio?
