Solid desing is BY FAR more important then similarity to existing gui's.
GNOME is not here to compete with Windows, Mac or KDE. GNOME is here to
help users to do THEIR work. Thus answer on other quiestion: what is more
important: usability or intuitiveness ? IMO answer is rule from perl:
